FAQ: How do I reconnect the Filed ProWork Desktop App?
Last updated: August 13, 2026
If the Filed ProWork Desktop App signs you out—for example, after restarting your PC—you can reconnect it by generating a new one-time code from the Filed web app.
When should I use this?
Use these steps any time:
Your PC restarts and ProWork shows you as signed out.
You have been logged out of ProWork for any other reason.
You want to confirm you are running the latest version of the desktop app.
How do I reconnect the Filed ProWork Desktop App?
Log in to Filed in your browser.
Go to your Filed web app and log in as you normally would.
Go to ProWork Desktop App settings.
From the Filed web app, navigate to File > ProWork > Desktop App.
Click Reinstall.
Click into the Desktop App section, then click Reinstall.
Note: You do not need to actually download or reinstall anything if the app is already on your PC. Clicking Reinstall is how you get to the sign-in code screen. This same button is also where you can check for or install an updated version of the app.
Generate your code.
Click Generate Code. Filed will generate a one-time code on this screen.
Paste the code into the ProWork Desktop App.
Copy the code, switch to the Filed ProWork Desktop App on your PC, and paste it into the sign-in field. You should now be signed back in.
Confirm you are connected.
Once signed in, your activity should populate in the ProWork Desktop App. This confirms the reconnection worked.
